One of the exciting events for 2011/2012 is the Warwick International Venture. It will see a select group of individuals from the society travel to Hong Kong to explore, appreciate and understand the way of life in the East. There are cultural excursions, networking events and tours of the financial district awaiting attendees. Keep checking the WFS website for more information about this.
Staying ahead of the game is important to all careers, especially finance. Banks are generally more than twenty times over-subscribed for Grad-Jobs and Summer Internships (no joke), so you need to do everything you possibly can to stand out. WFS International Venture
WFS International Venture (WIV) will see a group of students being taken to Hong Kong on a once in a life time opportunity. Once in Hong Kong there will be opportunities to interact with Barclays Capital, HSBC and BlackRock who will all be looking for top candidates to join them in Hong Kong. In addition to this, the International Venture will provide a chance for students to experience a new culture with visits to the peak and a Macau also scheduled.
Warwick Banking & Finance Society
Warwick Banking & Finance (WBF) is the central hub at the University of Warwick for students interested in a banking or finance career. Our society aim is to ensure that our members develop the necessary skills and knowledge to break into the very competitive industry of financial services and offer extensive support in order for them to excel in the industry.
We do this by:
- 1. Supplying members with vital information so they can possess a strong foundational understanding of the investment banking industry,
- 2. Providing them with the essential tools and tips to submit winning applications again and again,
- 3. Developing their aptitude and know-how to convert interviews and assessment centres into offers.
Warwick Women in Finance
Through our networking events, Warwick Women in Finance (WWF) strive to provide young women with invaluable careers advice. In the upcoming term, WWF will be hosting a range of events for its members, aimed at building strong ties with our large and successful network of alumni. We look forward to hosting several events this year, including informal dinners with our sponsors, trading games and lectures on succeeding as a woman in the city.

Fascinated by the fast-paced nature and huge amounts of money exchanged on the financial markets? Think you can predict the next big move like the dot com crash or gold's recent rally? Want to get access to a high quality, weekly 'Market Wrap-up' and participate in lots of trading games? If yes, then the Warwick Investment Club is for you! The place to be if you want access to the latest research and to attend events on trading, investing and careers within them. Who knows, you could be the next Warren Buffet or John Paulson!
Warwick Financial Law
The key aim of the Warwick Financial Law Team (WFL) is to educate our commercially-minded members of the diverse possibilities within commercial and financial law. We aim to do this by holding legal skills workshops, networking events and employer presentations. To facilitate this process, since 2009, WFL has begun developing relationships with a variety of law firms ranging from magic circle to US to boutique practices. We believe that by providing our members with an exposure to all the opportunities available to them in the legal sector, it will allow them to make a better and more informed decision about their future career.
Warwick Investment Forum
The Warwick Investment Forum (WIF) was birthed out of a strong desire to facilitate interaction and the sharing of ideas, right in the middle of the Great Credit Crisis.
Our aim is to establish an internationally recognised first-class forum on current issues within the investment and financial sector. WIF will strive to provide students, professionals and academics with a unique and interactive networking platform that promotes the sharing of cutting edge knowledge.
Our wish is to introduce professionals, their organisations, and their opinions to the latest academic research findings, and enrich the discussion with the novel, creative and diverse views of students. The forum targets students from the Warwick Business School, the University of Warwick, as well as other leading Universities from the UK and Europe.
